“You are a light in the darkness, a diamond in the rough. After everything you’ve been through, surviving your kin, you still smile. You’re kind, and brave, and compassionate. I do not think I would be the same had I suffered as you have. I admire you. For that, and for many things, prince. You are not broken. You are the strongest of us all.”

I gave this book 4 stars because, even though half of the book was a necessary part of the story, it wasn’t really that enjoyable for me to read, but the other half got better and especially the end. This book was like the first part more plot and story than romance between the MC’s, I wish the romance would go a little faster but the book was still enjoyable to read.

The Bronze wall has fallen, but at the cost of Lysander because Eroan let his prejudice for all dragons fail to see that Seraph was being saved instead of being used. Lysander is trapped in a human cage with no hope of release before Dokul comes for him to make good on the promise Lysander made to save Seraph.

This is where the romance and question about the true nature of dragons come out strong. The trauma was believable and brought out character development. The elves distrusting humans and the possibility of a good dragon was also great to see as they are supposed to be the “good” race. Eroan learning from his mistakes. It was good.

"What is this thing between us?"
"It is everything."

Just some thoughts:
-Seraph is probably my favorite character.
-The romance is so much better.
-The drama is amped up like crazy.

I love how this books keeps surprising me and I can't predict what's going to happen next! And the characters are so well written that I keep talking to my book trying to make them do what I want them to do (does that makes sense??). I really hope that in the next book Lysander and Eroan at least have some break to just be happy.

It dragged a little at some points, but the writing is still great.

This series is a guilty pleasure. The sequel picks up at the end of book one with Eroan in guilt, thinking he’s killed Lysander and Lysander himself captured by humans. This was more emotional than the first. Lysander goes through some serious trauma and it’s a testament to his strength that he didn’t break…well didn’t completely break. While in the first book, Lysander is the protector, in this one, it was Eroan who took over that role.

“I have you,” a voice rumbled in the closed, quiet place.

Those three small words broke him open, laying him bare. And for the first time in a long time, living no longer hurt

Aside from the romance aspect, the war between dragons, men and elves continues. Tensions rise, alliances are made, friendships are tested and secrets are revealed.

It's still awful but by Alumn, it's addicting

“Hold on to me. Don’t look back. I have you.”

“I have you,” a voice rumbled in the closed, quiet place. Those three small words broke him open, laying him bare. And for the first time in a long time, living no longer hurt.

Eroan closed his arms around Lysander, tucking the prince beneath his chin, so close Lysander’s trembling became his own. If he could have shared the burden, he would have, but now, all he could do was hold him and hope that was enough.

How can a person love two flawed fictional mythical creatures so much? There were times in this novel when I just wanted to reach in and pluck out the two main characters and let them live happily somewhere safe together forever. The pain they endure is boundless and the internal turmoil both of them face is so heartbreaking to witness.

I loved how the world expanded in this instalment. I did not enjoy the very explicit abuse, but it played its part in the development of the two characters individually and the relationship between them. Similarly to the first novel, please be aware of the trigger warnings going into this - it is not less dark.

description

That's basically my reaction to this book. I have no words. It was so good! I loved getting to know Eroan and Lysander more, and I loved getting to see them together. But their lives aren't easy and thing after thing after thing continues to get in their way.

Boy oh boy, did I have some burning hatred for a few characters. You know who you are... *coughNyeDokulMiranncough*

By the end of it I was a sobbing mess and then just jumped straight into Blood & Ice. This is probably one of my favorite series' I've ever read; and that's high praise! I just love it SO much.
