Despite having a narrative refreshingly unlike what I’ve come across before, this book didn’t catch my interest, so between part one and two (of three) I stopped.

This was a fascinating intersection of intellectualism and critique of it. The author focuses specifically on the hypocricy of so-called intellectuals. This is also specifically about male intellectuals who bask in their superiority but really have such fragile egos.

In my opinion the prose changed when the POV switched, which I found impressive. Maybe I noticed it simply because Swedish is not my strongest language and sometimes understood and sometimes the language got more complex. Maybe I'm imagining it.

In any case, easy 4 stars, evem though I'm not really sure what I think about it. I like that.

Tuhle knížku jsem si po delší době čtení braků vychutnala. Kýčovité, ale chytře napsané postavy a elegantní zápletka, krásné obrazy, které vyprávění vyvolává. Spousta odkazů na jinou literaturu - možná až moc.

Ugh I love closing a book and thinking 'well, that was perfect'. The writing (Vogel's translation) was so compulsively readable that it felt like this book was an unstoppable tsunami just throwing me along in my little rubber dinghy - everything churned beneath the surface and it was so unnerving and bizarre and searing while being so flipping FUNNY that it was all just irresistible. Cor blimey I want to read more Lina Wolff, what a read!!
