This did not add to the reader's experience of a Series of Unfortunate Events because it didn't really provide any new information or tell a story in an entertaining manner, something I've come to expect from Lemony Snicket.

Instead of being labeled a companion book, a more appropriate label for this book would be "teases answers for all the loose ends from ASOUE, but still leaves you hanging."
I recommend A Series of Unfortunate Events if you enjoy quirky dark humor, but not if you require any sense of closure.

I was obsessed with the Series of Unfortunate Events so this was a must to my collection. I read it and of course I like it, it's a Lemony Snicket book. I just loved the way he put this together. You really have to read the series to appreciate this though.
