Was reading this for a bookclub but only finished half of it before the meeting. It sounds like everyone at my bookclub thought it got better as it went on, so maybe i'll take a stab at finishing it later, but i've got too many other books on my plate and not enough interest to do it now

i've never felt so dumb while also bored reading a book and i was constantly asking myself whether it was me or the book that was the problem (probably both?). there were definitely subtleties and references i didn't get but also the writing was dull and repetitive. characters being constantly self-destructive in the exact same way gets really boring really quickly.

LOVED! Tbh I read this a while ago and didn’t review it but I read it so quick.
Love a quirky cast of characters who are kind of losers! But also very endearing.

DNF (p50). The writing style in this one just didn’t work for me.
