I really like this world Rhodes has created, just figuring out what was going on with the Shades kept me intrigued. I also found Ophelia to be a a ray of sunshine throughout.

Plot was there. There love kinda came out of nowhere though. Smut was pretty good.

Well this was a wonderfully delightful surprise, though I don't think I've ever read a *ahem* wetter book than this one. Seriously...So. Much. Slick! And smells and…trails.

Loved, loved, loved Ophelia as a FMC - she's hilarious and knows exactly what she wants.

I'd been promised monster fucking, and I wasn't getting any damn monster fucking.

I'm not usually a fan of overdrawn miscommunication, but Ophelia brought the right amount of comedic flair to deal with Allerick's miscues, and the way it all unfolded was really fun to read.

If anyone's been tempted to dip their toe into the monster romance genre, I think this is a great one to start with. Really looking forward to book 2 with Astrid & Soren's romance 🔥🔥

It was cute and a really easy read, but not particularly memorable. Still worth the read though, especially if you have Kindle Unlimited.

I’m unable to resist a political arranged marriage trope. It’s my catnip!

I enjoyed the first half of this immensely, but it went downhill a little bit in the second half for me. I love a good idiots to lovers trope (that’s why I liked the first half so much) but these two were truly as dense as bricks when it came to each other and only became worse as the story went on. I really wanted to see more emotional connection and conversation in the latter part of the story and didn’t feel like I got enough of it. I think the third-act conflict would have worked a lot better for me if they had trusted each other and worked together instead of Ophelia running off. These two had almost got on the same page and then it was more of the same-old miscommunication that had been present for the whole book. Although it did finally make Allerick get a clue, so... swings and roundabouts.

I did like Ophelia a lot. She was mature, had a backbone, and was unashamedly in touch with her sexuality. Allerick was secretly an adorable sweetheart hidden under all that dumb and grumpy exterior. The storyline with Ophelia’s scent was very entertaining. All in all, it was a really fun read and I’m intrigued by the set-up for book two.
