A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon is the first book in the Cowboys of California series, it's the first western I've ever read and it was very cute. Evie Buchanan is a chef who has a spot on a morning show and she has recently lost her memory from a accident at an industry party. After waking up with amnesia she's informed that there's only one person on her emergency contact list, a sexy African American cowboy named Zach, apparently from her past. Zach messed up the first chance he had with Evie, now that he has a fresh start, will he be able to convince her to fall in love?
Evie and Zach were cute together, and almost all of the side characters were really nice. I don't think this was my favorite romance story, but I did enjoy the read. I can not see myself reading this again though, because of the slow pacing in the middle of the book. It feels as if not much happens for a bit and I hate when I feel like the plot is stalling. I did like the epilogue.
The spicy scene was okay, there was only one if I remember correctly. It wasn't my favorite spicy scene and I honestly wish there were more, but I understand that the author is trying to tell an actual story that's not exactly an erotica. I'm giving the spicy scenes two point seventy-five chilies š¶ļøš¶ļø.75 out of five chilies
Overall this romance was okay, there were cute moments, a few moments that were boring, and the one spicy scene was alright. I'm giving this 3 out of 5 stars.

I wanted to love this because the premise sounded right up my alley, but I really struggled with this one.
The most interesting part is the first 20%. Evie getting attacked. Evie losing her memory. The tension filled build up to Zach and Evie meeting again after ten years. And thenā¦.it slows to a grinding halt. This isnāt even a slowburn. Itās a singular coal burning in a rainstorm fixing to go out.
The plot is boring, the middle is plodding, there are SO MANY characters that I couldnāt keep up with who was who half the time (and some of them contributed nothing to the story).
And everything is just really anti-climactic? I mean for a story to drag for 250-ish pages, I at least wanted the bad guy to get their just desserts on page.
Evie and Zach really have no chemistry and the basis of their relationship relies on the reader knowing they have a shared history. But telling me that, giving me one or two small glimpses of younger Evie and Zach, and dancing around this BIG HUGE BLOW UP (which was actually kind of silly and not worth losing ten years over?) is not sufficient for a relationship to form. I didnāt feel like they even knew anything about each other. Just that they used to know each other and find each other attractive.
Normally I love RW. But I didnāt love this and almost DNFd several times. :/

Childhood romance that ended on poor footing after a challenging moment, that reconnect and offers a chance for support after Evie looses her memory in an accident. Zach and Evie fall in love again and realize how they can go forward (or can't). It was a fun romance with groveling.

I didn't think I'd read any cowboy romances, but then I came across Rebekah Weatherspoon's. I've already picked up the rest of the series.

After reading A Thorn in the Saddle I absolutely had to go back and get whole story on the Pleasant family from the beginning, so here we are with Zachās book: A Cowboy to Remember. Actually, Iād like to call this Evieās book, since sheās really the most likeable one of the pair.
This book features Evie Buchanan, a celebrity chef who finds herself without her memories after an encounter with an old co-worker, and Zach Pleasant, luxury ranch owner and former rodeo star, brother to Jesse Pleasant from book 3. This book is great - hugely plot driven with lots of hilarious banter. Rebekah Weatherspoon writes *the best* friend groups. Her friends never fail to crack me up and they are always so beautifully reliable and honest with her MCs. For a Weatherspoon itās pretty low heat, but the story is compelling so I still didnāt want to put this down. If youāre into cowboy hats? This oneās for you. š¤
Zach and Evie have *history* but of course she is unaware of it, so their relationship is a little fraught. Okay, itās a lot fraught, but I loved how much Jesse and Miss Leona (Zachās grandmother) and Evieās friends watched out for her. And I adored being along for the ride as Evie quite literally remembered herself (and figured out things like texting and Instagram DMs).
šš»Recommended for fans of cowboys, big family drama, reality TV, cooking shows and awesome friend groups.
