This book is full of sarcastic British humor- in a good way! As a lover of books who always insists on stopping in a rare bookshop when I see one, this was an enlightening and enjoyable read.

While this book is categorized as a memoir, I think it’s also important to note that it’s written in a series of short essays. They aren’t exactly linear and characters come and go so it can be a little difficult to figure out exactly when in Oliver Darkshire’s career these incidents took place. I also found the story stalled a bit in the middle, as it didn’t progress much of his perspective on bookselling and rather talked about random oddities. It was still an enjoyable read though!

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a relaxing and easy read. The chapters are short and fulfilling so you never have to feel as if you’re committing an entire hour of your time to a book if you don’t want to. I also think anyone who is as passionate about books as I am will greatly enjoy this story as well.
