Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Although I'm pretty sure I'm a little older than the target age group. I found the characters to be believable for the most part. However, some of the interactions between the characters were not.

This was a pretty easy read. Perhaps even too easy. Even if this book is intended for a younger audience, I don't think think it has to read as such. So, I felt it cold have been a bit more challenging and/ or thought provoking. Especially given the twist at the end. Thaddeus' character could have provided the perfect opportunity for this.

I wish the relationship between Keegan and Rourk had had a bit more time to develop. But maybe that happens in book two??

I would certainly recommend this book to others.

I found this book really enjoyable. cool idea, interesting characters. I think my favorites were Rourk and Thaddeus( who reminded me a little of Ender (From [b:Ender's Game|375802|Ender's Game (The Ender Quintet, #1)|Orson Scott Card|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408303130s/375802.jpg|2422333] ) )

Spoiler the story seemed a little predictable, Donald was OBVIOUSLY supposed to become a love interest, and there was no way that Keegan would stay dead. While i did enjoy this book and found it entertaining enough the "romatic" love seemed artificial, and i felt that the book had SO much potential that it just didn't live up to.

I probably shouldn't have bothered.

This book isn't awful its just pretty boring. end of.

I don't really care about what happens I don't like the characters. That is it.

Something about Keegan really got on my nerves. Maybe it had to do with how perfect she was or how self-centered she acted. Or maybe it was both that combined with how she was a love struck idiot who couldn't do anything for herself. So pitiful. Keegan ruined this story for me, without her I might have liked it a bit better. Maybe.

As a freebie, it wasn't bad.
Elves and other supernatural characters inhabit our world in secret. We know from the get go this is true. Keegan is a 16 or 17 year old elf. And she is pretty perfect. I mean she doesn't have many faults which I mean I guess that is ok. She isn't my favorite character. There really isn't much to say about her, I'm kind of indifferent. She knows the name of her 'chosen' the love of her life, her soul mate Rourk.
Rourk is 18 and has to wait for Keegan to turn 18 to finally have the relationship they've been waiting for but they meet early. Again nothing super spectacular about him.
I really enjoyed Keegan's younger brother Thaddeus. He is 12, and a seer and is in that position of just being a child but having to be responsible and more wise than his age allows him. My favorite character of this book.
I did not like how things were dropped suddenly. Like some of the friend's Donald for example.
Also I don't know maybe I just didn't connect with the characters enough to want to read the second. Not interested in reading about a Donald, Rourk, Keegan love triangle. I wasn't wowed and don't have an interest in continuing the series.

Coexist is a fun, quick read. I loved the characters and their world and I look forward to the Sequel.

***SPOILER***

The ending broke my heart. I feel so bad for Rourk and Keegan. I hope they can find a way to repair their bond. If they can't and Keegan decides to be with someone else, that will kill Rourk :(

I won a version with all 3 books in one. So when I sat down to read I ended up reading them all together and in only two sittings.

Coexist:

While I felt that teens would really relate to this book I didn't so much. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it. I did enjoy parts of it. I thought it was interesting how their mates are chosen. Keegan's family was just packed full of 'specialness' - Her mother is a healer, her brother a seer (the one the prophecy speaks of) her father was the chosen battle leader.....I mean wow all in one family?

I thought Keegan was a little clueless. How could all of her friends be non-human and her not know, while they knew she was an elf. It would have read better had she known and just didn't say anything. That would have made more sense.

Rourk was the character I enjoyed the most. For someone so young he acted eons older. The relationship he had with his father albeit a little broken was touching, the loss of his mother forever shattered the mans heart. I was so glad when he was there to give advice when Rourk met his mate.

The battle was probably my favorite part of the book. It wasn't as long nor as tense as i would have expected and Thaddeus just rolls up in the dark armies territory and just a few sentences and everything is fixed? It was all a little too easy.....

Keegan is an elf and when she turns eighteen she’ll meet her chosen ,Rourk (the elfin male that completes her). She’s not really supposed to know his name, but her brother Thaddeus, a seer, told her when she was younger and just to think of his name when she’s in trouble. She often thinks of him. Keegan doesn’t know it, but Rourk often watches her from a distance when she thinks of him.
One day, Keegan and her two best friends, Anna and Lauren, go to a fair where she bumps into a dark elf. Keegan’s friends don’t know that she’s an elf, so she tries not to make a big deal about it. Her family tells her that there is going to be a big war between the light and dark elves. Supposedly, Thaddeus will take a big part of the war. Only one side is supposed to prevail.

A while before the war, she goes to a concert with her friends and finds herself in trouble. Rourk comes to her rescue and Keegan can’t believe she saw him before her time. He quickly leaves after making sure everything’s okay. There are some major things that happen during and after the war, so I won’t go into anymore because I’d probably spoil it.

For the most part, I liked Keegan. There were at times I thought she was a little spoiled but not that bad. Rourk was definitely the star of this story I love him and love the concept of having a chosen. Even though Keegan and Rourk didn’t know each other a lot and had an instant-love connection, I could definitely tell they cared a lot about each other. I love that this book is centered on a paranormal creature that really isn’t touched in young adult paranormal books.
I loved this book and would definitely reread it. The story is just like its cover…magical.

So many people I know rated this book extremely high and for the life of me I cannot figure out why. This book was horrible.

What intrigued me first was that it was about elves. With all the YA out there. elves aren't high on the popular list so I wanted to give this a try. I kind of regret it now.

This book follows Keegan, a 16 year old elf who is very self absorbed and spoiled. She skips around taking pictures and dating multiple boys because she can but ultimately she's waiting until she turns 18 so she can meet her fated partner, Rouke. Some elf law forbids mates meeting until both are 18. Yup, they are mated when they are born and this is the person they're supposed to be with forever. And this is ALL Keegan can think about.

When it seems like a war will be breaking out between light and dark elves, and many will die, Keegan's only care is that she won't get to meet her mate and live her perfect life with him. I kid you not. This is all she thinks about. Did I say completely self-absorbed? Not that Rouke was better with his whole possessiveness and ownership complex.

Then there was the writing. The author was all over the place. Her POV's were all over the place pretty much switching in the middle of a page to a completely different person because apparently we really needed to see them do nothing. It was just a mess. I will not be continuing this series.
