I really enjoyed this book it is the first book I have read in the series and it easily reads as a standalone. After catching her fiancee cheating on her with his secretary Jordan has sworn off men and relationships and is spending all her time caring for her dad who is in a hospice. Nick is a doctor and is back in Compass Cove after leaving the Navy because of an injury. His grandparents are her landlords. A storm hits and her car is crushed when Nick comes to her rescue he finds her really sick. This was a super book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series

The romantic legend about the founding of Compass Cove is great. Such a lovely beginning to a lovely story. The book is about Jordan and Nick. Jordan's dad is dying and when he assumes Jordan and Nick are engaged, Nick doesn't say anything tell him the truth. The lie takes on it's own life and before they know it, everyone has heard about them getting engaged. Will the lie stand between them, or will the fake relationship turn into something real? The story and characters feel very real. I really enjoyed this romantic story.

I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Love hearing about connection with the compass-we have many in our possession.
Jordan is about to get married but...she had found him with another woman...
Story also follows Nicky who's staying at his grandparents house at the beach who also rent out the house Jordan lives in. She found her new pet helped fill the void.
He's recuperating from surgeries to his hip and there are more to come.
Love the very descriptive details of the area-love the ocean and water scenes.
He, an ex Navy doctor came to her resuce during the storm when she had just left her car with supplies to help make her better, when the oak tree fell on the car.
She not only had a chest cold but bronchitiis. He helps take care of her and her dog during the storm.
Love how she treasures her dog and father and allows Nick to help her out with both.
There is a lot to this story! Such tender caring moments shared. Major misunderstandings occur after Nick's visit with her father...he's attracted to her and she to him but they are still hiding things from one another.
She wants her father in hospice to die happy and to show him how she will be loved after he's gone. Adult situations, swearing and sex scenes. Love how realistic this is, the location and learning new things. Would love to read more from this author. Love hearing of the connection the compass has to this whole story-priceless! Funny scenes and hilarious ones when she meets his whole family for dinner and she stays longer...and yes very tragic teary eyed scenes as well.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end along with 'about the author'.
Didn't realize this was a series because I read it as a stand alone and it was perfect. Will probably get my hands on the first book.
Received this review copy from Tule Publishing via Negalley and this is my honest opinion.

This book is a hard one for me to review. I generally love all of J.M.'s books; however, this one fell a little short for me. I'd read a couple of chapters and then set it down for a few days. While the book packs an emotional punch in some places, in others it fell a little flat and never truly grabbed hold of my attention. Overall, I liked the premise and the characters. While this particular book may not be my favorite in the series, I do look forward to reading more stories set in Compass Cove.

The day before her wedding, Jordan Velsor walks into her fiancé’s office and witnesses him in flagrante with his secretary. Obviously the wedding is off but more importantly, Jordan no longer trusts her judgment about relationships or men. So when her landlord’s grandson Nick Renaldi enters her life nine months later, he runs into a wall he couldn’t even see and had nothing to do with creating.

Jordan’s also dealing with her father’s failing health, the man who raised her alone following her mother’s death when she was eight years old. When Nick, a former Navy doctor, finds her sick and outdoors in the middle of a dangerous storm, he later determines she has pneumonia. Their relationship gets to develop over the next few weeks as he helps her recover, which is an unlikely but perfect situation as it doesn’t get more honest than when you’re seen at your worst. Nick got to see the unfiltered Jordan and came to love the person underneath. Sometimes he seemed too good to be true but he’s surrounded by a big family, providing insight into the man. He’s also struggling from the trauma from his injuries suffered in Afghanistan, both physical and mental, and his unwillingness to share his feelings about them creates real conflict.

I really liked the independent and feisty Jordan who, though obviously scarred by her last relationship, found her own way to allowing Nick into her life. I also appreciated him as he had great heart and a glorious family who collectively formed one big lovable character that added humor and richness to the story. Their relationship was fun, sexy and affectionate and I loved watching it develop. And, I liked how the legend of the compass was factored into the story.

Loved this story and the characters in this series. The compass legend just makes it more fun.

I enjoyed the first book in the Compass Cove series and this second book did not disappoint. I loved how Jordan was strong and independent. Her and Nick were both hurting from different events that happened in their lives and they found comfort in each other. I loved Nick taking care of Jordan when she was sick, the fake engagement storyline, and Jordan's dog Gertie. There were a lot of fun and flirty moments between Jordan and Nick. There were some moving moments as well...I had tears in my eyes towards the end of the book but I don't want to give away what happened.

Such a sweet romance!

I love the history behind Compass Cove--the story of the town's name origin is just delightful, and the legend worked into this particular romance in a fun way. Jordan and Nick are great characters, and they make it easy to root for them to get a clue--man, does it take them a while!--and to finally get to their HEA.

The story was a bit longer than it probably needed to be, and the reasons for starting the whole "fake relationship" part of the plot were a tad flimsy, but it's hard to argue with the results. This was my first book from Ms. Moon, but definitely not my last--book one in the series ([b:Then Came You|34887046|Then Came You (Compass Cove, #1)|Jeannie Moon|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1492604998s/34887046.jpg|56140872]), with the librarian and the former football star, sounds particularly intriguing... :)

Rating: 4 stars / B+
