This was indeed better than the first though still quite slow. I was yelling at her to check the other manor the whole time.
It has a lot more of that adventurous feeling that I remember. It also has a lot of awkwardness especially in descriptions. I wonder if that's a fault of the original book or the revisions.

I had this book as a youngster (It's still at my parents)
To me Nancy Drew was the height of sophistication and bravery.

Nancy Drew did scare me when I was young, and this is just the kind of book I would like to re read as an adult.

I wish Goodreads would separate the Original Text Nancy Drews with the Revised Text versions, because I'm reading both books and they are distinctly different. I had never read the OT of this one, and was surprised to find Nancy packing heat! She's also described as having blonde CURLY hair, which I never really got from the pictures of the original books. This wasn't my favorite for the obvious reasons that it was dated and had racial stereotypes, but the story overall was very good.
