This is a book that I've had on and off my tbr for so long and finally just picked it up in a bookstore, even though it is my lowest rated book on my Goodreads tbr.
Unfortunately this is going to also be one of my lowest rated books on my read shelf, this just wasn't for me unfortunately.
I just didn't connect with the main character which really impacted my enjoyment. Whilst it was certainly quick to read, I feel like I didn't fully understand what was going on with so many jumps in the timeline and lack of character names. It felt tedious to read whilst also being fast paced... very strange. Some of the writing hit so hard and yet the poor editing throughout completely took me out of the story.
I think this is a hard one to recommend widely but I'm still glad to have read it as it was a book I couldn't let go without trying.

I almost DNF'd this book because the first 30% felt like a slog to get through. Thankfully it picks up from there, but it feels like it's trying to be deeper than it is. What is said about race has been said over and over by now and doesn't bring anything new to the table. Yes we get it para social relationships are toxic and men can be manipulative assholes. The ending was disappointingly boring. I fell for the hype and the book didn't really stand up to it's reputation.
