This was such a darling book about a cast of diverse characters that all meet on the commuter rail. The characters and their arcs were all compelling but Iona was definitely the biggest gem. She's fun and sassy and hilarious, and she has the biggest heart. If you enjoy books like A Man Called Ove, I'd highly recommend this one.

Such a great cast of characters! When Iona manages to get people talking to each other on the train, they each learn that everyone is dealing with problems in their lives. As they get to know each other and get a lesson in empathy, they begin to help each other, often with mutual benefit. The book tackles some big issues, but has so much heart and humor, I didn't want it to end.

Apparently, there's an author's note at the end of the book. I wish it had been included in the audiobook.

This was a slow start for me, but I grew to care deeply about the stories of the ensemble of commuters and I rarely put it down through the end.

First off, this is totally not my normal read. I'm a fantasy/sci-fi nerd through-and-through but have been trying to branch out. I also hate pink so this cover made me cringe a little when I opened the package. But after reading this, I may have to change my attitude and pick up a few more light "domestic" fiction books as palette cleansers. Fantasy can get heavy when you're 4 novels in and barely halfway through a series but I binged this cute little story in 3 sessions of only a couple of hours!

I was debating about 4 vs 5 stars for a little while today because normally books I love, that I'd rate 4.5+ stars to (and definitely if I rate 5) I'd normally want to re-read. For me this holds no re-read potential so I was finding it hard to rate it perfectly. But why do I need to re-read it to love it? I couldn't think of a single downside except that I would have liked a little bit more from certain characters which means I loved it enough to want more!

Highly recommend for an adorable (you may shed some tears though), cute, and relatable everyday story.
