“I’d let you hurt me time and time again if it meant you’d eventually find your way back to me.”

When Kat Singleton brought on the emotions with just the prologue, I knew I was going to be in for a ride. Marigold loses her mom at a young age, and her solace and safe haven turns out to be Cade, her best friend's brother. At night, she'll sneak into his room in an innocent way, just wanting that comfort only he can give. The crush she had on him starts growing more and more, and finally Cade starts seeing her as something more. But Cade knows Marigold was made for more than just their small town, and Cade knows he's meant to stay at the ranch.

Fast forward, after living in the city and achieving her dreams, Marigold receives a news that leads her back to the place she hasn't looked back on for years; too much heartbreak happened. And now that she's back, Cade continues to chip away at her heart with all his anger, because she left and never looked back. Will these two be able to rewrite their story or has it been doomed from the start?

“Some days I’m fucking terrified because it feels like you’re the only thing that really matters.”

Cade and Mare's romance gripped me from the start. From their past interactions to the present, we see so much love, want, care... I love when Second Chance romances include a glimpse into the past to really give the reader a feel of everything that went down: how they started, why they ended, and all the details in between. And with Rewrite Our Story, we get that and more! I love the the author would include the flashback chapters at a time in the story that had to with what was going on during the present time; it connected things in a way that made the back and forth flow smoothly.

“I’m tired of pretending that my day doesn’t begin and end with thoughts of you.”

The romance is so equally divided between angst, spice, and tender moments. One minute—or ten—I was fanning my face, and the next, I had my hand to my heart, going through the angsty emotions the characters were experiencing.

“You feel that?”
She nods. “I do.”
“Ask me again if I’m yours.”
“Are you mine?”
“My heart only beats like that for you.”

After reading Black Ties and White Lies, I knew Kat could write some pretty good spice and dirty-talk, but whew! Cade Jennings really said, "I'm going for the crown." I read most of this book in public, so it was tough maintaining a straight face when Cade and his dirty mouth would come into play.

“Just like that. Get familiar with it. I’m going to bury my face in your pu$$y now, Goldie. Take your time with my cóçk. Fúçk, I know I could spend forever getting to know this sweet çûńt of yours.”

And then there are the tender moments that had me choking back a sob. There's a letter that as soon as it appeared, tears started falling down my cheeks (I can't say more, because spoiler). There's also a field of marigolds that Cade would tend to (there's more to this that will have you screaming), the breakfast nook... Then the fact that Cade would carry a picture of Mare inside his cowboy hat every day! I lost it when I read that, because, despite there being anger towards Mare leaving and never coming back, he still loved her with every fiber oh his being, enough to always carry her with him.

“I love you,” I repeat, making good on the promise I made to myself that I’d make sure she knew how much I loved her. [...] The kind of love that lasts past forever.”

I cannot recommend Rewrite Our Story enough! I also can't wait for the next book in the Sutten Mountain series. Just the glimpse the reader gets... *fans face* It's going to be a hot one.
