There were characters that drew me in, and others that did not. Some of the stories followed characters who were plain, everyday type of people. They were or reminisced about their lives that weren't really interesting to me (that is my preference as I love be taken on an adventure). It's not like the characters were written terribly, they in fact had some wonderful characteristics and flaws, but their personalities were not the ones I connected with. However, there were stories of characters that I did enjoy as they made choices that were interesting and different. It made me think more about people and the different lives they live and the way they deal with their choices.

I loved this. I liked some stories more than others, but I liked them all so much! What a wonderful collection of short stories. I can't wait to read more by her.

I returned the book to the libary with half of the stories unread. I liked the first one I read. The second one felt too much like I'd read it before. I read a few more stories, but didn't get hooked like I expected.

I chose this book for my book club’s December 2018 read. Imagine my shock when I opened Goodreads to shelve it “Currently Reading” and discovered I read it in June of 2016. How could this be? Why don’t I remember this book? Why does it only have 3 stars?

And then I read it again. Ugh. I still gave it 3 stars, but I don’t know why. I just finished it and can’t remember anything I read. I remember feeling annoyed at pretty much every character and thinking that this whole book is just bleak as Hell. But I can’t remember a single story in its entirety. It is well-written; I can recognize that even as I dislike the book. Maybe that’s why I decided on 3 stars. But who knows.
