I wanted to like this more but I just didn't click with it as I'd hoped. I feel bad criticising such a personal memoir and I think it's just a case of me preferring a more introspective writing style.

hard to rate a memoir at the best of times especially this one as it deals with the authors struggle with her homophobic family while she comes to terms with her identity as a lesbian.
if you’re queer you should read this book and if you aren’t you also should to get a deeper understanding of the queer experience so you can be a better ally.
it was such a comfort to see my own experiences that feel isolating being spoken about by lily, to not be alone is something every queer person deserves to feel.
