A good, creepy mystery/ghost story. Disappointingly, I never found it terrifying, but it was definitely creepy. I like how everything tied together and I thought the ending was perfect. The Iceland setting also added an interesting element.

The last 30% of this book was excellent - it just took far too long for the story to come together and pick up momentum!
It is also translated from another language, so the slow burn felt even more slow when combined with some odd sentence structure.
If you’ve ever wondered if books could scare you - i know realize it all depends on your level of self control and patience. I have the tendency to be impatient and visually jump to the punchline of a chapter, which ruined the author’s intent at pacing. My fault, not hers!

Closer to a 3.5, some spooky stuff for sure. I wonder how much nuance was missed in translation. There were a few plot points that I predicted by the middle. Maybe the dash of foreign novelty since I’m not very familiar with Icelandic culture made up for that. Definitely have a blanket near while you read, you may need I for a few reasons.
