I thought this was going to be more ocean/sea creature related but it just isn’t. It’s more of a coming of age story and that just isn’t the vibe at the moment for me.

I took this book from the book pile at the SAB front desk. I thought it was funny how the description on the back cover seemed to fit my life and what I was going through. I’m glad I read this, not necessarily a book I would re-read or recommend. However, it was nice to feel sad and sentimental about life along with the main character.

A gentle book for anyone feeling stuck, especially amidst different types of loss and fragile relationships. Plus the beauty and mystery of aquariums and sea creatures - I’m a sucker (ha) for an octopus story. Even though I didn’t relate to Ro on every level, the feelings of just numb floating were very real to me and so clearly written. Mercifully, a softly hopeful ending (not a Perfectly Happy Ending ™️), which isn’t always the case with a protagonist like this. Gorgeous debut.
