What a page turner!!! The only reason the book gets 4 stars and not 5 is because of the extreme violence, otherwise I really enjoyed it. It kept me on the edge! I needed to know what happens next, how things unfold!! Really good book!!

A wicked engrossing read. I'm a fan of having your villain revealed to be your narrator in an awesome twist, and this one did not disappoint in the follow up. Great dynamic characters and a thrilling story. Highly recommend!

4.5⭐️ (rounded up to 5 on Goodreads). Oh my! I am absolutely and totally freaked out by Jennifer Hillier’s books! This one was definitely the MOST disturbing! So many times I thought to myself “WTF am I reading”? As far as some of the characters go: I liked Sam, I loved Jason, I didn’t like Matthew and I hated Chief. I’m assuming 99% of people who read the book would agree with me. So why did I knock off 1/2 a star? Well two reasons. First, the over use of the word “goddamn”. Second, it was a book that kept you on the edge of your seat but there really wasn’t a big shocker. What I mean is, you find out who the bad guy is early on and then you read all the gory, twisted things he did but it just continues to the end with no added shockers. I was waiting for someone else to be have some deep secret or somehow be connected in another way to the killings. I guess there is one twist with Matthew and Chief but to be honest I had predicted that early on so it wasn’t a shocker to me.

Overall, great book! But here’s a little added personal secret: I would absolutely be afraid to have Jennifer Hillier as a friend…the things that go on in her mind!! 😳 But in all seriousness, she is an awesome author and I highly recommend The Butcher.

I loved the start of this book. It is unlike any other crime/mystery book I have read. We quickly learn the serial killers true identity, borrowing a work from the book, and what a clusterf**k the whole case is. Not only is Rufus Wedge, the original suspect, long dead but the lead investigator from that case is 15 years retired.

The reason this book only gets four stars was the ending was too pretty of a package. It was easy to see how the story was going to end which I thought was unfortunate. Then again, the book never once covered up any details or tried to hide the truth. I cant wait to buy her other books and try them out as well!

3 stars .. barely. I didn't enjoy the story very much and could barely stand the narration. This guys voices he does are pretty painful to listen to. Then, the story just was not thrilling at all. I wish I'd been in the majority on this one but nope.
