Both a good insight into the making of Star Wars as well as the life of the person behind one of the most recognizable characters ever created.

This book really impressed me. I wasn't looking forward to reading this book, since it's centralized on a character that I've found quite annoying. I finally read the book one year and 6 months after receiving it. But, I'm so glad to have read this. I never realized how much Anthony Daniels has brought to me and the rest of the Star Wars community until now. My newfound respect and appreciation for this man is through the roof, and I'd love to meet him one day. Whether you like C3P0 or not, he was one of the main faces of the franchise, and has brought so much heart to it all. The only thing I disliked in this book was that sometimes it felt a little unorganized, whether it was in storytelling and describing scenes Daniels acted out, or sometimes jumped back and forth abruptly from different time periods. Overall though, I was able to catch on to practically everything the book presented, and this really did open up my perspective so much. I never knew how dedicated Anthony was and still is to Star Wars, hosting the first Celebration and voicing 3P0 in Clone Wars and quickly saying yes to his cameos. I honestly have no idea how he did it all, even after reading his whole life story as 3P0.
God, the ending of the book (specifically the last two sentences) made me tear up so much. I don't know if it's because I'm severely depressed or it's my time of the month (perhaps both) but it really just hit me how much of an impact this man has made on millions. How caring and loving of a person he seems. And the mark he will forever leave in pop culture, for the many years to come.

I do love a memoir, and I love the original Star Wars films, so wanted to get a copy of this book as soon as I knew it was going to be published. It’s taken a few years but I finally got the audiobook and settled down to listen in anticipation of fascinating stories from the man who played the infamous golden droid, and the voice of our satnav! 😂
I must admit it’s been a strange listening experience, and I really wish I’d heeded all the 2 star reviews on Goodreads. I don’t tend to look at reviews unless I’m not enjoying a book, and sadly they confirmed what I was feeling.
I enjoyed hearing about the original films, because I’ve watched them a few times, but I was lost when he was recalling his time working on all the other films. I do remember Jar Jar Binks, and how annoying he was in the first prequel, that me and my husband have never seen those other films. Anthony Daniels loved that character and the actor, so he was mentioned a few times. When he loved a character or actor he fawned over them so much in his recollections, that when he didn’t mention certain famous actors, it became obvious that he probably didn’t like them at all.
He also talked a lot about how disappointed he was that C-3P0 wasn’t a bigger part, and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t involved in any of the interviews when A New Hope was first released back in the 70s. He kept going on about how incredibly uncomfortable he was in the golden suit, which makes me wonder why he kept returning to the part if it was so bad?
He did say that he loved taking part in Star Wars related shows and experiences, and loves the franchise and the fans, so maybe it wasn’t such a terrible experience after all. 🤷‍♀️
All in all it was a very disappointing listen, so I can only recommended it if you’re massive die hard Star Wars fan.

I spent nearly 10 hours listening to this audiobook. Nearly 5 of those hours were spent listening to Anthony Daniels complain about C-3PO not being a main character in the Star Wars movies and that it wasn't fair.

I was excited to listen to this book in hopes of getting to hear more about the relations ships with costars and others in the series, but I felt that it spent more time on Anthony being upset with his C-3PO suit and how it wasn't fair that he didn't get to be in the spotlight of it all.

Overall, a somewhat interesting listening but only for those who are huge Star Wars fans.

If you love star wars it is a must read, a great behind the scenes behind the movie you may not know and great to see how c3p0 worked. Didn't know anything about Anthony Daniels before this, how he felt treated after the first movie, how he has so much pride in the droid all round great book
