If you like your mm romances quirky - featuring an asexual hipster and a gay man who (as the title suggests) wants to be normal - then this is the book for you. The dialogue and characterisation is strong - I could hear Casey and Gus in my head. If you’re looking for steam, action, alpha males…. Move along, this isn’t the book for you. I laughed, I found it charming and hopeful.

RE-READ I don’t know why I previously had this set at four stars because this is literally one of my favourite books, a year plus later and this still holds true. My only critique, if you can even call it that, is that I didn’t laugh as much the second time around. That could be, and likely is, a me thing. It is also partially because it’s the second read. But seriously the first time I read this I was laughing out loud constantly.

I didn’t write a review the first time I read this, but TJ Klune is one of my favourite authors and I believe this was the first book I ever read by him. And per usual it has everything you would want and expect in a Klune-verse book.

I laughed and cried, sometimes at the same time. I have a feeling this author's humor probably isn't for everyone, but I found the book hilarious. Also, very moving and emotional.
