Princess Faraine, though the oldest of her sisters, has always been treated badly. Born with the gift, sometimes curse, of being able to feel the emotions of those around her she had a difficult time interacting with others.
King Vor’s kingdom is under threat and the only way forward is by gaining the help of a kingdom that has powerful magic at its disposal. Needing to ensure both kingdoms keep to their deal the only way is through an arranged marriage. So now Vor must travel to a human kingdom and select a bride.
I really enjoyed seeing how the author introduced these two. From the start, they develop feelings for each other and seem to speak to each other’s souls. Within this book, we get political intrigue, manipulation, forbidden love [since he’s meant to marry her sister], and a slow-burn romance.
Disappointed I didn’t realize sooner that the next book isn’t already out, as the ending has you needing to know more. There were a few things that I felt didn’t add up but potentially in book two it will all be smoothed out and make more sense or be found out to be entirely wrong…or so I hope. 😅
Overall I enjoyed this fantasy slow-burn and can’t wait to see what book two will bring us in regards to this couple and these two kingdoms. I especially look forward to finding out more about Faraine’s God’s gift and seeing what all she’s capable of in regards to it.
