(This review is a spoiler. I can't talk about the characters without spoiling this book. So I suggest you wait until after you've read the book to read this review.)

I really am in love with these books and these characters. Often with sequels, there's that fear that it won't be as good as the first one, but this one was right up there as far as entertainment and my care for the characters goes.

Miki Jones is still fighting the Drau, aliens that have come to our planet and are trying to take over. All this while trying to deal with Jacksons betrayal and what that means for their relationship, her dads alcoholism, keeping secrets from her best friend and having to lie in order to keep those secrets and still going to school and keeping her grades up.

I really just adore the whole concept of this world. Its so cool. I used to be a gamer. Had all the latest consoles and games and would play for hours on end. I think that's why the 'game' aspect of this book really appeals to me. Even though when you think about it on a deeper level, its kind of sick. These kids are risking their lives, being forced to fight these superior creatures, and its all being treated like a FPS game.

The idea of this alternate reality though. Its so cool and different from anything I've read before. These kids get frozen in time and sucked into another dimension and hours, even days can pass by. But once they're done with the mission, they're thrown back into their actual reality as if no time has passed at all. I love it!

Eve Silver must have took so much time to really hash out all of the details of this world because there are so many rules, things that can and can't happen because of the nature of what's going on, that any slip in continuity or if any little thing doesn't add up, the whole story could fall apart.

What I really love about this book is the characters and their relationships with one another. Excluding Jackson and Miki since they are the focus as far as relationships go, even though I love them together. Miki and Jacksons relationships with all the secondary characters really put this book on a different level for me. These kids are depending on each other to survive when they're in the game, so the fact that they have such amazing relationships outside of the game makes their dependency and faith in one another, and my feelings for them that much more intense.

I love how Miki and Luka are just friends. That they can sit on the couch and watch a movie without there being any kind of sexual tension, or love triangle type attraction. I love that Jackson is willing to risk his life to save Miki's best friend Carly. I love that Luka and Carly have this fun, flirty relationship and Miki and Jackson are cool with it. I love that they're all able to just hang out with one another and be teenagers.

This book just has so many different dimensions and facets to it, but none of it seems rushed or glossed over and nothing is over done. These are pretty short books and Eve really packs a lot in. I'm talking school, family problems, friendship/relationship issues, history and the game.

One thing that really bothered me in this book is Miki's internal struggle with whether or not she could trust Jackson after what he did to her in the first book. Even though his actions in this book kind of atoned for it or negated the initial betrayal. Its like...I understand why you would have trust issues, but I feel like he's proven time and time again that he cares about you and he would never do anything to hurt you. And you've told your self multiple times that you forgive him for what he did. So the constant back and forth about whether or not he should be trusted or if he should be allowed to keep all his secrets got a bit annoying towards the end. Why keep having the same argument with yourself over and over if you're only going to come to the same conclusion you did the last time?

These books are proving to be action packed, surprisingly full of depth and humorous. I can't wait until the final book in the trilogy "Crash" comes out. This book didn't leave off with that big of a cliff hanger like the first book did, but some pretty serious stuff was revealed and I'm definitely looking forward to getting some answers. Man am I glad I decided to buy Rush...

Reading a sequel can go one of two ways. It can go horribly wrong, where you cannot remember anything that happened in book 1 and therefore are lost completely because the author doesn't fully recap enough, or you remember some parts of the first book and the authors fills in the rest. Sadly I have read meany sequels that land in the first category, and let me tell you that it can be a very hard reading experience. But I am so happy to say that when I read Push, the sequel to Rush, Eve Silver thrust me back into her world and helped me figure out the parts that I had forgotten. And after I was caught up, man dis this book keep me gripped to the edge of my seat.

Before I get into specifics, I just have to get this out of my system. I LOVED Jackson in this book, well I loved him in Rush as well but he was more mysterious and a little more douchey in the first book. In Push I really think we get to see a different side of him, especially when he is with Miki, I found his character to have the most growth out of everyone. I still loved that he had that mysterious quality to him, he still kept secrets and he was still extremely honest no matter what, which is a characteristic that I adored in him in Rush.

Miki Jones was her usual self in Push. she was strong headed and yet emotionally tied to Jackson. I really wish we could have seen her at home a little bit more because I think I liked that in the first book, but there really wasn't much in Push. I liked that she still had her best friends and her relationship changed a lot from the first to the second book. The one issue I had character wise was some of the secondary characters, I wanted more of them. We know that they all have secrets I just wish we could have seen some sooner.

The action was not as all-encompassing as it was n the first book but I kind of liked that about this book, We got to see Miki and Jackson find out who they are together and if they actually work as a couple. We got to see more of the Committee which was interesting and added a very nice mystery element ot the book. And the final fight scene was great, I really loved that it pushed (no pun intended) the boundaries of Miki's reality and forced her to make some decisions that were not meant to be made by a teenage girl.

Although I am not one for cliffhanger, this one was a small one. There were some reveals and such but ultimately this ending was nowhere near was torturous as the ending of Rush, believe me! None the less I am super excited for this series, it is a mixture of sci-fi and action-adventure and great for gamers. I seriously cannot wait to get to the third book to find out what happens to these characters!

I bought this one (with some Amazon credit) after enjoying book 1. I had to PUSH through this one a bit. I'll admit, I stopped reading at one point when I had a library book that was due back (as this one was purchased and in my Kindle Cloud, I had no deadlines for finishing it). That may have impacted my enjoyment.

I just had a harder time getting sucked into this word, or caring about the characters. It picked up a little at the end, and I think I'll finish the series just to see what happens.

This is actually 4.5 stars, I really, really like this series. It's super fast paced and there is so much happening. Author does a great job of build up and then just releasing enough that your not sure what's going on and your mind takes you in all directions, I love it. I like the writing style and since I have her adult series as well, I'm moving it up on the pile. I will be looking forward to next one to see what is truly going to transpire next
