The title caught my attention. I don't think I've seen the words Malay and Pig existing within the same sentence, certainly not in a positive light anywhere else. And I don't think I've heard of this tale before. The story was about a king who was cursed to look like a pig. I thought it was interesting but I did wish for more details in some parts - part of the plot felt a bit choppy? Perhaps since it's a retelling, the author wasn't able to embellish on the details and stayed true to the original. I did LOVE the illustration! The characters and the colours were very pleasing to the eyes!

A wonderful read. I loved the illustrations. The story was nice and cute, but I wish there was more to it. For example, why was the pig king cursed to be a pig in the first place? Who cursed him? And it was kind of weird that he had to terrorize to save in order to regain his human form. The ends justify the means, I guess.

"My name is Raja Indera Brahmakala. As you can see, I have been cursed to be born as a pig, a forbidden animal."

The Malay Tale of the Pig King is a retelling of a classic story of a Prince who is cursed to be born as a pig.

The story tells of his adventures involving magical creatures, fairies and a djinn princess. All in the pursuit of proving himself worthy and for the curse to be broken.

The art was nice, with a watercolour feel to it and provided some atmosphere to the tale. However, I felt that the story was very short as it was merely a retelling in English and hence a very short read.

Despite this, it's a nice book for some super light reading.

“Tidakkah bonda malu berputerakan patik binatang haram zadah?

I’ve been meaning to read The Malay Tale of The Pig King in its original text since Fixi offered it for free in Google Play Books years ago. However, i couldn’t get into it because it used classic Malay language

Colourful illustrations and who does not love a happy ending. But I do feel its way too short and simple. Now i'm intrigued to read the full version of Hikayat Raja Babi.

Apabila Saudara Amir Muhammad menghebahkan tentang crowdfunding untuk buku The Malay Tales of the Pig King aku tidak berlengah untuk menyokongnya.
