Der etwas andere Dachboden

Als Lauren von dem Jungesellinnenabschied ihrer besten Freundin nach Hause kommt, denkt sie einem Einbrecher gegenüber zu stehen, doch dieser behauptet allen Ernstes ihr Ehemann zu sein. Dabei ist Lauren bis eben doch noch Single gewesen. Wie kann das sein. Und als besagter Ehemann dann auch noch auf dem Dachboden verschwindet und ein völlig anderer Mann - der sich ebenfalls als ihr Ehemann ausgibt - herunterkommt, weiß sie gar nicht mehr, was sie glauben soll. Dieses Spiel setzt sich endlos fort und Lauren fängt langsam an Gefallen daran zu finden, denn unter all den vielen Männern wird doch bestimmt auch der Richtige sein?!

Mir hat der Schreibstil der Autorin unglaublich gut gefallen. Sie schreibt sehr flüssig und humorvoll, sodass man nur so durch die Seiten fliegt. Auch Lauren ist eine sehr sympathische Protagonistin und man fiebert mit ihr mit, wer denn als nächstes vom Dachboden herunterkommen wird. Welchen Mann würde man selber wohl wählen? Anfangs war die Geschichte auch noch sehr spannend, doch ab der Hälfte wirkte es dann doch etwas inszeniert und übertrieben bei vielen Situationen. Dennoch habe ich gern weitergelesen, weil ich unbedingt wissen wollte, was es mit dem Dachboden genau auf sich hat. Leider fand ich das Ende dann nicht gut umgesetzt und hier hat mir dann doch das ein oder andere gefehlt. Aber dennoch eine unterhaltsame Geschichte.

I quite enjoyed the read, the premise was really cool and it started off strong, I just wish the book had spent more time exploring

the repercussions of her different lives, the changing relationships with her friends and family, the trickle down consequences in their lives

. Although it was explored initially and briefly, I think it would’ve made Lauren’s arc and growth far more satisfying to witness as she navigated that as well.

The concept of this book was extremely clever. You send your husband up to the attic and a different one comes back down with your life altered. It did get a bit long and redundant but was still worth the read. It was a solid first book for the author.
