I really liked this cute story. It is a great lead in for the next book in the series. I liked seeing how Brook and Luke grew through the story.

Content: adultery, wandering hands

After listening to Luke and Brooke's story, this book was a blast to find out how it all started. Brooke's disillusionment to relationships is made clear and Luke is oh so sweet as he tries to convince her otherwise. It's the perfect mix of high school love, all the feelings we can remember having at 16 years old. Plus we get to meet that cocky, annoying boy that thinks he can get whomever he wants and the bonding of new friendships as she enters a new school. Lindzee Armstrong is always able to take serious situations, like dealing with a parent's divorce, let us delve into the consequences on all involved, but make the story light enough to truly enjoy. She has a gift to give us sweet, loving romances!

Tiffany Williams is one of my favorites, and her continuing narration of this series just makes me happy. Tiffany lets us live through the characters with her many voices, each taylored to their personality. I truly enjoy her performances.

Read first

I like things in order, so you can read it after, but I'd read it before number 1. It's chronological that way.

This was the book I've been looking for! After accidentally reading Miss Match first, I wanted a book to fill me in on Luke and Brooke's life and how they became best friends. Little did I know, that book existed and I should have read it first! Luckily, Lindzee was kind enough to send me a copy of the book and it DID NOT disappoint. I wish the book was longer than a novella that's how much I love these characters and this series! This series is so sweet and it makes me nostalgic for high school, not that I had anything like what Brooke and Luke have, but still. I love how innocent the books are, it's so refreshing in this day and age. Just because the book is short does not take away from the story at all. It really sets the scene for the next book ... that you should totally read!

Wait. It just ends?

I was really enjoying the dual viewpoints and cute story until it abruptly ended. No conclusion or romance......unless....you but the next one. Now I am all for drawn out stories but warn a girl before you start that this one isn't stand alone. Even if it is a shorter read.

Cute prequel novella to Miss Match (which I just started reading). This short story introduces the characters in Miss Match and gives you their background and the history of how they met. Enjoyed it!

2.5 star Could have been a good cute YA romance but Brooke’s stupid instance on remaining friends despite the fact that they were both obviously into one another and the Luke had proven he was a good guy was super annoying. I understand that this is a prequel to an adult romance about Luke & Brooke, I get why she was gun-shy to start with but honestly her stubbornness about it put me off Brooke and made me not want to read their adult story because she obviously keeps it up for YEARS.

Cute introduction novella to the main characters and a few peripheral characters from the first book and the basis/foundation for the series. If you read this first before any of the other books in the series, then the ending may surprise you, but if you've read the other books, then you know where it's going, though it in no way detracts from the way the story is told. It hints at Brooke and Luke's "rules" from the first book and also shows how Brooke, Luke, and Zoey all meet, as well as Brooke's background with her parents, etc. (things that come up in subsequent books). This is pretty short and a very fast read, could be read in one sitting.

***I am on the review team for this author, but I purchased this book and did not receive a copy from the author for review this time.***

Never got around to sharing how much I enjoyed this story. Fun, has its swoon moments, but nothing intense. Thoroughly loved it.

A quick and easy read. Nice characters, can relate to them. Will look out for more of her books.
