“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

Reading this book really did feel like watching the movies! I doubt the next few books will feel like that though, and I still can't wait to see what I forgot from the books! Oh Potter, you rotter being one of them. The twists and turns that happen in this book are actually crazy, oh wow. I'm seriously enjoying this re-read, more than I was expecting. And this isn't even my favorite Harry Potter movie!

Current Ranking:
  1. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Another great installment in the series! I like this one because it is the beginning of some of the darker elements we see in the series.
It is also our low-key introduction to the horcruxes…and we see how to destroy them too! I love rereading these and seeing this moment again, because it is so cleverly written. It makes so much sense by the time we get to the last book.

I swear each time I read this book Lockhart becomes more and more insufferable, haha. He is actually the worst and I hate how cocky he is when he knows noTHING. Either he or Umbridge have to be the worst characters in this series hahaha.

I genuinely love this book and love getting to know our main characters on an even deeper and more personal level. The character development is already happening early on in the series for Harry, Ron, & Hermione, which leads the way for the rest of the series. I love the way that they learn and grow each installment of the series. It really turns them into the people that they are meant to be by the end of the series.

Overall, I have always loved Chamber of Secrets because the last quarter of this book is actually insane. So much happens and the climax of this book is impossible to put down. It sucks you into the world and has you screaming and begging that Harry is going to make it. This is another installment that just makes me instantly want to pick up the next book in the series. Time for Prisoner of Azkaban now! I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟

I forgot how funny Ron is?!?!
Also, this is all very exciting and everything but why do they never tell anyone when they suspect something😭 “Oh yeah, we’re three twelve year olds, of course we can kill a 40 feet venomous deadly snake alone, no problem” be so for real.

Overall, I liked this volume a little better than the first volume. With each volume I notice more and more how much I would like to go to school at Hogwarts and how much fun I have reading the story. It's just a part of my childhood & even though I'm reading the series for the first time, it's a bit like coming home.
But I still have a few things to criticize: the chapters are too long for me, the narrative perspective makes it difficult for me to read & what really bothers me is that there is simply no discussion of emotions. J.K. Rowling uses almost exclusively the outside perspective & really only focuses on the plot. I think that's a shame because it means I can't get to know the characters more closely.
Nevertheless, I love the story and am looking forward to the third volume!!
