Read my review first… I am not sure why people are so mad at this story. First of all, the story line is predictable (and then completely NOT predictable imo), but you kind of expect that with these kind of books. Evan is seeking revenge on the man his wife cheated on him with, and decided to sleep with his wife and you can kind of come to your own conclusions from there. I thought it was well written, and it’s rare for authors of this genre nowadays to do one POV, not sure why that bothered so many others!
I will say, if you don’t like cheating and lying and *stalking*.. don’t read this, as that’s all the book is based on. I did not cry reading this, but can totally see why people do! It was a good, fast read. You may not find Evan to be the most lovable or redeemable character though..

Just another book that makes me question my morals. No big deal.
Like any other of Jennifer Hartmann's books, this one also involves around sensitive topics. Don't pick this up if you don't like reading about people cheating on their spouse and definitely don't read it if you don't like reading about a person trying to tear someone's marriage apart because that's basically what the main character was setting out to do. I don't really mind it as long as authors handle it appropriately which I think this author did.
I almost dnf'ed this book at 20% because I couldn't stand Evan. He was such a miserable of a man. His inner dialogues fucking killed me. But he slowly grew on me as he started to realize what mess he got himself into & he definitely 100% fucked up. Maybe because I see myself in him. Not that I will ever try to destroy someone else's marriage. But you know those moments when you do things you know you shouldn't do then realize you fuck up and now you just don't know how to forgive yourself? Yeah, that. Everyone's been there.
They may not have a good start, but I think Josie and Evan are perfect for each other. Evan made her realize she shouldn't settle for less and she was his light when he was lost in his own anger. What I really like about Jennifer Hartmann's writing is she knows how to create perfect love interests for her main characters. From the 3 books that I read (this, Still Beating, & Lotus), they're all perfect for each other. They help each other grow and become better. It's a beautiful thing to read. Yes, sex scenes are great, too, but it's the way these characters complement each other that makes me enjoy her books.
