This book discussed the move of the royal court from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, the lives of Rio's citizens, and how hierarchies and statuses changed with the introduction of the royal court. The author did great at showing the different sides and perspectives and showed how other sides learned and understood each other. This aspect was especially great during the discussion of constitutionalism in one of the later chapters.
