Another excellent book by Mia Sheridan! I loved the strength both characters showed and Calder's journey from mindless cult-follower to man in love. Xander was also a gem... I would love to read some of this from his POV!

Spoiler So many of the scenes from this book keep coming back to haunt me. Calder kneeling on the floor... sleeping with the dogs... trying to escape when he hears Eden scream... tied to the tree. The storyline was so painful and the couple had to overcome so much!

This book was devastating and stunning and I kept having to take breaks from its wild, somber, and hopeless feel. I can't wait another second to start book 2!

I had a hard time getting through this one, I don't know what it was about it that bothered me so much. I liked the main characters but I couldn't get past the cult stuff I guess. I plan to read the follow up because I want to know what happens, I think I'll like it better than this, them in the real world.

Calder and Eden are raised in a cult away from society. They know nothing of the outside world. They fall in love but Eden is “the chosen one” and set to marry the cult leader on her 18th birthday.

Mia Sheridan builds suspense so well just with a brief prologue. This was sweet enough to hold my attention and the life and running of the cult was fascinating in a dark kind of way. This started to lose me a bit towards the end because the drama/angst got turned up a lot. This was pretty decent on audio, Jennifer Stark particularly, does it well.

I keep comparing all of Mia Sheridan's books to my favorite book of hers, Kyland, and nothing has topped it yet. But, this was still pretty good, though not quite engaging enough for me to read the second book.
