An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good was wild fun ride with 88 year old Maud.  Don’t underestimate the elderly.  Fun, quick read, and somewhat historical.  The cute size of the book and the stitch pattern on the cover is a nice touch.  Can’t wait for the next book.

September book for lifetime challenge (80s)
I picked it because the idea of an elderly lady serial killer interested me. It’s a Scandinavian woman, so that’s interesting but takes some edge off. It’s short stories, so that means none of the mysteries have much build up. Generally disappointing.

Well, I'll never look at elderly ladies the same way ever again. Fact is, I might steer way clear from them as this collection of short stories gave me a thrilling view of how bad they can be.

I loved this book for its original character and the setting in Sweden whose culture I know next to nothing.

A short, satisfying read.

i didn't notice before starting the book that it was a collection of short stories, which i dont normally like. i loved maud and liked hearing her shenanigans but thats about it. i would've preferred a novel about her.

A collection of five short stories about an intriguing old lady named Maude. She has lived in her large apartment all her life, and does so rent-free, thanks to a contractual agreement made when her father passed away. Each story is a small glimpse into Maude's world. One would not think such a slight old woman who has all she could want would be in need to murder. But as each story shows, one does what one must to protect what one loves and care for. This was such a good and quick read. I found myself getting lost in Maude’s world and at times feeling as though perhaps she was a bit justified in her actions. Filled with dark humor and unique plots I highly recommend this to any fan of murder and mystery.
