From the most recent adaptation I got the feeling that Jo is aroace, from reading the book for most of the time I had a feeling Jo is trans and aroace.
Then came the last few chapters and I cannot help but say I'm a bit disappointed. I loved that Jo was just not interested in men romantically and like romance only in stories. I loved that Jo liked to behave like a boy and frolic like a boy and wish she was a boy. And so I strongly dislike the ending where all the girls ended up in marriage with kids. Jo suddenly having a desire to open up a boy school???? Making a passionate speech about how she sees boys who need help everywhere??? Where was this then in the entirety of the book? Idk I just.... I liked it but wish Jo's story didn't end in such a way. And it's like inspired by Louisa May Alcott's own life, and she never married, so why did she force Jo to do it?

Also fun fact my mom is reading the book as well and is in the middle of it and only today, after I informed her of it, found out it's actually set in America lol
