I listened to it through Phoebe Reads a Mystery podcast. I think I’m too old to get the appeal of it. Didn’t love it like so many of my friends do.

“I’ve been routed up early all winter, and had to spend my days working for other people; so now I’m going to rest and revel to my heart’s content.” literalmente mi actitud ignorando toda responsabilidad durante una semana para leer la novelita
“Don’t try to make me grow up before my time, Meg; it’s hard enough to have you change all of a sudden; let me be a little girl as long as I can”
“I wish wearing flat-irons on our heads would keep us from growing up. But buds will be roses, and kittens, cats,—more’s the pity!”
Oh. Oh.

By the end of re-reading Little Women, I wanted to join the March family in harvesting bushels of apples, singing around the piano, and sewing small gifts for each family member for Christmas. Glad I picked it up again.

The moments of shining anger, independence, and ambition elevate Little Women beyond the “moral pap” (Alcott’s phrasing) that was shoehorned in to sell books, and make it well worth reading.
