Typical Stephen King. If you like his other books, you will like this one. Someone in grave danger, tries to solve issue alone, enter supernatural element that is both benevolent and dangerous. But a different story with different plot lines and characters. As always, he knows how to write dialog very well. PS I would have rated this closer to a 3.5 if given the option.

Rose Madder is one of King's lesser-known books. I actually think it's underrated. It's grotesque, abstract, and so wonderfully weird.
**If you're triggered by graphic scenes of domestic violence including rape, I'd skip this one. There is one scene, in particular, that is still tattooed on my brain.
This one is a mix of horror and sci-fi all wrapped up in one woman's journey to self-empowerment. It's really good and I highly recommend it.

Wow!!!! This is an absolute gem of a book. It doesn’t only deal with domestic abuse issues it delves into the minds of both the abuser and the victim or victims shall we say... there’s also a hint of magic and myth and a sort of dream like quality to the whole story. This is marvellous and such a strong female lead cast of characters with whom you love and support and the ending wow!!!! I think this is the first Stephen King novel I have read where I don’t feel sympathy for the villain... in fact I kind of relished his just deserts, as he had so many choices to stop and leave. Love it just love it. Obsession, love, lust, murder, brutality and female power and mystery.

That was a weird read for sure.
Not sure about the initial rating I put, it might change a bit with time
