This book is perfection, and definitely surpassed my own (high) expectations for the next in the Primas of Power series. A Lot Like Adios pulls off so many tropes to fantastic results - ex-friends to lovers, "let's bang it out," only one bed, fake dating, and declaring love through fanfiction. Will be recommending this to all of my friends!

Everything was a little too easy without some conflict that perhaps could've been there. And there was a little too much internal dialogue summing up the lessons learned.

But, it was a ridiculously fast read. With some fairly charming characters. And the two main characters were flung at each other and that was fun as well.

Another review I saw referred to parts of the story as Hallmark via steamy HBO. That fits too.

I finally had to give up on this one after having zero interest in continuing it for months, then giving it another go and realizing it’s just not worth it. Daria is not a bad writer - I loved the first book in this series - but this book has zero suspense. They’ve loved each other since the beginning, and quickly begin opening up to each other in ways Michelle didn’t think she could. This happens early on and keeps happening.

There is no reason for the story to keep going when they’ve conquered all obstacles between them minus an “I love you” before the halfway mark. The book seems to think we want to read a ton about the hero’s family problems, but we’re not shown the scene where he leaves them, which basically sets up the entire book. There is no investment there.

So, with only tiny obstacles to clear with Michelle, a family who easily accepts him again, a flimsy plot about a gym and a story that keeps going for no reason - this was a disappointing read.

These characters didn’t interest me like the couple from You Had Me At Hola.

I don't know how to rate this. I liked the writing, the diversity, the side characters, and Michelle but didn't care for Gabe. I thought they didn't have a relationship beyond hot sex and old history. Yeah, Gabe has a lot of character development but the type of person who cuts off his family for 9 years (because Dad is overbearing?) doesn't seem like someone Michelle actually has that much in common with. Gorgeous cover!
