The language of the book is poetic and quite beautiful. The story, however, is a bit dark and disturbing to work through.

truly adored this book!! also to be clear im on team creature. i dont think he’s the problem and yeah okay you can say he could be lying or be secretly like super manipulative and tell me that i’m stupid for the surface level way i chose to interpret the book, but idc. i think the story is stronger if we assume he is telling the truth. and ALSO id argue that saying that he’s lying and manipulative and a true monster is the easy interpretation of this work. the idea that good people can still wrong things due to the inhumane and unfair ways they were cast out and hurt but still be human and good at heart is much more interesting  to me than a monster being a monster being a monster. also he’s my fave character so shut up.
