Fatphobia and I think I can find more culturally sensitive info about trees

I learned a lot from this book and I certainly look at trees more closely and with more understanding than before. The diagrams were really helpful too, simple and elegant. I found myself skimming all of the personal essay-type sections to get to the tree facts. Maybe that works for some people, but I found them boring and not why I checked out this book. Also, though you can't tell from the title or cover, this book is ONLY about trees in the UK or similar environments so YMMV depending on where you live and what trees are around you. I wish there was more info about other weird and interesting trees of the world and how they do or do not follow the patterns Gooley sets down here.

A fascinating insight into the lives of trees, and the secrets of understanding a trees' life story by studying the signs on it's bark, roots, branches and leaves. I've been trying to put what I've learnt into practice on my morning walks. It's a slow process but adds enjoyment to the walk. The information is presented in an easy, not too scientific, way with plenty of illustrations and photos. There's a smattering of humour too.
There's a lot to take in so a future re-read is on the cards.
