Even though the premise was interesting, I think the ending felt a bit flat and repetitive, but I enjoyed the ride

Love the concept - 2 possible ourcomes based on one decision, 2 love stories explored

Potential triggers, maybe not the most comfortable read for everyone

TJR did it again! At first, I thought this book would converge towards a single destined path. I'm glad there were differences, both big and small, that resulted from one pivotal decision. Who is to say which one is better?

As far as "love triangles" go, I found myself enjoying both suitors. I think Ethan's story packed a stronger emotional punch — there was so much drama, and the sacrifices felt higher. There was one line that shone from the Henry story though, about kissing someone who tasted like a cinnamon roll for the first time ever. It's crazy to think about all the little things that can differ in a life.

Jesse's big speech at the end was beautiful. "My heart breaks for every single version of me that didn't end up with you." How good must it feel to be loved by someone who has such a way with words? TJR mentioned this line was written especially for her husband, and I nearly died from the jealousy of experiencing a love like that.

I do think that the concept of fate makes low moments easier to bear, but I don't like to give myself that out. We drive our own happiness in this world. Beyond fate, I still appreciated this book because Hannah and Gabby demonstrated resilience above all. And the support system they had in one another? Immaculate. Over the years, I have truly come to appreciate the value of friendship, and this book makes me even more grateful for the wonderful people that make up a life.

My only qualm? WHAT HAPPENED TO DEAR CHARLEMAGNE? The poor pup deserved a role in the conclusion!

TAYLOR JENKINS REID!!! I seriously need to stop going into her books thinking it will be a light fun read, when I get emotionally WRECKED every time. The book went by so fast since it was told in two different story lines, I went back and forth on which one I liked more. I LOVED the feeling of found family in this book. I cried so hard and was left with the feeling of an existential crisis.

This was a surprisingly quick read and I really liked it. I thought I might get confused as the story switched between the two alternate realities but I didn't. The narrator's musings on fate sometimes got repetitive but it is definitely a novel that makes you think. I wonder what the author's overarching message is - that life is all up to chance?
