Ok so low key I did not expect to like this book that much. So I really enjoyed learning more about the Sa-khui/
Mesakkah/Sakh people. I thought it was very interesting that the Sa-khui are technically speaking a dead language. Learning more of the history was actually fascinating to me. I do like Mardok, but I'm not in love like other people. I didn't know that I needed a Harlow/Mardok friendship. And of course Farli! Holy smokes, time moves fast in this universe. On the low, I hate how quickly time passes in this series. It's been 8 years since the humans crash landed?! All the young kits can speak, there are newborns, and new pregnancies? I feel like I love these characters so much and it's so sad how quickly time is passing. Like I just met Farli! She was about 14 years old and now she's 22?! The fuck? Anyways, that's me being overprotective of her. Ok so. I hated that scene with Chompy. Ruby, why? It triggered me and I legit almost cried and felt a little nauseated. Also I hated how the 3 new characters who honestly, not gonna bother with their names, treated Farli and made her feel like less than them. Super ugly. Also this is another reason why I hate men. That man was really gonna take Farli away from literally everything and everyone because it would be more convenient for him. That's legit what it was. He was gonna do that knowing full well he wasn't happy in his life and didn't have friends/family waiting for him. I'm glad he changed his mind, but still. Also, I really feel like I didn't like that Lila changed her mind about her hearing. I don't mean to be insensitive, but a large part of her book centered around her lack of hearing and her choice to remain that way. She really didn't struggle with wanting her hearing back at all so I feel like her part of this novel undid that meaning in her novel. That being said I am thrilled that Harlow had her tumor removed and it will never be a problem again. I actually feel like I need to sit with this one for a while. I'm not ready to move onto Bek's novel, especially since now I know how it starts, I don't see how I'll be ok with his book/relationship.

Very fun! At this point it's not even about the romance for me anymore I'm just here to see how this lil' society is progressing. But I did like Farli, and I can't believe this series is so long that you go from seeing her be a pre-teen to a full on adult ready to have babies. Absolutely wild. I thought the central angst over if Mardok would stay with Farli or she would leave with him was silly. Like, the argument was basically him going "I, someone who hates my job and the society I live in and has no familial or friendly attachments to speak of, have the opportunity to live with someone who will unconditionally love me for life and whose wholesome clan will accept me and never make me feel lesser for my disabilities in a place where I could be useful, but it's cold here so meh...." Silliness. Anyway, on to book 13!

Another plot twist! Mardock and Farley make such a sweet couple and I enjoyed that significant less amount of babies/pregnancy in this book. I’m very intrigued to see where the story keeps going.
