Wanderlust
This was absolutely adorable. Paul and Sean meet after Paul's rough breakup at a local hotel. Paul's looking for a hookup, and after a scenic drive, it turns out he may not need to hit a bar to find it.
What starts as a one night rebound, turns serious after Paul realizes Sean is, despite their age difference, courteous, kind, and extremely mature for his years.
The characters have excellent chemistry, and are halfway to declaring their feelings when they realize that there are mitigating (spoiler) circumstances that make their relationship impossible.
I was immediately hooked, and read this story in one sitting. 5/5
Themes: Younger (24)/Older (42), Military - Navy, Disability (Moderate) Neck Injury, M/M, Power Dynamics, HEA

I spent so much of this book hoping there would be more of a plot beyond the spice or some effort to explore their relationship to make it believable. It all felt so forced.

Ok, this was a decent read for me, but I wasn't blown away. It felt awfully similar to her other Navy series- Navy guy hooks up with someone, finds out there's a reason they shouldn't be together, they resolve to stop seeing each other, keep seeing each other anyway, and so on and so on. Even the bit at the end with Sean's dad felt familiar, like I'd seen it, or something really close, before in one of this author's stories. Yep, [b:General Misconduct|21840255|General Misconduct (Conduct Unbecoming, #2)|L.A. Witt|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1396478929s/21840255.jpg|41107459], only the roles were slightly reversed, with the CO being the young guy's dad, rather than his boss, as it was in this book.
I did like both characters a lot. One of my issues though, is that we're shown quite a lot of sex, but not a lot of getting to know each other. As such, I didn't get to know them, either, especially Sean. 300 pages, and I still have no idea how old he was, other than over 21 but under 25(maybe?), what he was studying in school, or even why he was still in school, considering he was at least over 21. Nothing was mentioned about grad school, and even him studying was only mentioned in an offhand way, giving no indication to what he was working towards.
There was also a LOT of repetition for me. Lots of "oh my god, I loved kissing him", and "we can't do this, we shouldn't do this, we won't do this again, aw hell, who are we kidding, let's meet up", and it just pulled me out of things. I wish the author had focused more on getting to know the characters, and less on kissing, sex, and the push and pull.
I've always been a fan of LA Witt, and I'll probably read the next book in the series, I just really hope it offers me something different next time.

This was too boring for me. I couldn’t connect with either of the characters and something was missing for me. I find their back and forth to be too repetitive and pointless. Eventually it became frustrating to finish this story and I found myself skipping through the whining in the end

It's hard to pinpoint why I keep coming back to this MM romance so often - I've listened to it many., many times. It's both spicy and comforting. It's small-town. The narration is truly excellent. Love.

Cute read but very repetitive. Like to the point where if I took a shot every time someone "combed their fingers through his hair" I would be dead of alcohol poisoning right now. The ending was roll your eyes level of cheese and cliche but I suppose that's to be expected in this genre. Good time passer but nothing to write home about if you were the type to write home about gay erotica.
