La memoria es algo que se está convirtiendo en una obsesión. En estos relatos, la memoria tiene que pasar por un filtro personalísimo, sin distancia alguna para criticar, disputar o halagar. Las cosas eran así, o son así, y desde el presente poco podemos hacer para cambiar lo pretérito. Zambra usa la excusa de la memoria y la autoficción para hacer lo que más le gusta hacer: explorar el cómo narrar, colocar frases entrecortadas y escenas inconexas buscando nuevas emociones o sensación, explorar no solo sus vivencias, sino el cómo contarlas para, quizás, darle más viveza. Al final, somos las historias que nos contamos.
