Believe it or not Josie reminded me a lot of a person my partner knew first year of uni, whom was completely insane and a compulsive liar and it was just crazy seeing the similarities.
Jojo def shows signs either BPD or just a sociopath, and is a big danger (clearly) to those around her, displaying violent outburst, no remorse, obsession, and no empathy whatsoever.
Starting with Walter and her relationship, the age gap is INSANE and was a MAJOR red flag. In any shape or form Walter was a groomer, however
She is a perfect example of an unreliable narrator and we don’t begin to see the full picture till after her family begins to speak out.
I legit cried when Nathan died, I was hoping he wouldn’t and was holding out hope that the marriage would be fixed, but again Jojo’s obsession got in the way of that. I was honestly surprised that she didn’t try stealing HIM away from his family. But after hearing her daughter explain how Walter had to sneak to speak to his kids in America it was just adding on to the long list of red flags for Jo the Roxy plot twist was to be expected, she seems to be worse then her parents/grandparents. I think a spin off book on her would be interesttinnng
I loved the writing style and I will absolutely be reading more from this author. Great little murder mystery.

I must say I really liked this book... until the last quarter. Why oh why do authors this?! Something is very wrong when the author wants you to put aside big moral no-no's and be ok with
At the end, it’s ambiguous who is telling the truth. But we do know Josie 100% kidnapped and killed Nathan – accident or not. We do know 100% the weird, shady things Josie did (taking some of Alix’s stuff, hanging around Alix’s home etc). Half of me is good with the ending. But the other half of me is like "well what was the point of this book then? The things we don't know for sure are kinda important to the story. Like if Roxy did kill Brooke, that changes things. Like Josie wanting to come clean with what happened and Walter threatening her changes things too! But for now, I'm leaving this book thinking this: Josie being on the run is fitting. She did afterall kill a man - whether she has psychosis due to childhood trauma or not, and will now forever be looking over her shoulder. I think she has rewritten her narrative as a protective mechanism; and to one that she can cope with/live with. So much so that she can no longer separate the truth from the lies.
Overall I think most readers will zip through this book quickly - despite my issues mentioned above it was still a page turner. Whether you are satisfied with the ending is a whole other matter! :)

The audiobook production was fantastic but I don't think I ever really enjoyed this book. I'm becoming suspicious that thrillers might not be for me.
I found myself wanting to finish the book more than I wanted to know what happened. The story is told out of chronological order and from different perspectives.
There is a lot of content about grooming and I don't think it was handled particularly well overall.
