This was my first experienced reading superheroes like in marvel or dc in a book. I can say I did like it, I did give it 3 starts because, personally is not the type of book I read the most but, it was very good. Love the main character , and I will be bying more from this author for sure.

I already took this book into my heart after one page.

The relationships between the characters, be it between Nick and his father or between Nick and Seth or between Nick and Jazz, all seemed so real and wonderful that you felt like you were watching real people interacting with each other.

Nick was one of those characters I could really empathise with, being a queer teenager myself who wrote fanfictions and was afraid of disappointing her parents.

Nick's character development should not be ignored either. The way he changes over the course of the story and the recognition of what events are responsible for this change is truely remarkable.

One of the things that excites me most about this book is that it is about a boy without superpowers in a world where superheroes exist. I love that this book is not about how someone becomes a superhero, but how someone accepts themselves and learns that everyone is special in their own way. That kind of message is really important and it's so well done in this book.

The way Nick and Seth interact is so wonderful that it brought tears to my eyes. To rarely do you see a protagonist and his love interest interacting so timidly and sweetly and also having respect for each other and their feelings for each other.

It's the same with the other relationships between the characters. It is wonderful that the characters, regardless of gender, always show their feelings openly. They cry, they hug each other and they just live without being shamed for having emotions. A message like that is so important in our world and society.

It is the kind of book I have wanted to read for a long time, which is why I thank the author for writing such a wonderful book.

I already have the second book and I am looking forward to seeing how the story will develop.

Such a fun read. Nate is frustrating and endearing, you can’t help but laugh at his antics.

Is it too early to say that TJ Klune is now one of my favorite authors? Because after reading two books and both being five stars I am now convinced I need any and every TJ Klune book!

Think My hero Academia/Marvel meets Fangirl but make it gay! Originally the super hero aspect wasn't selling it for me with this book and after the first few chapters I couldn't understand why not. I mean I love MHA and Marvel, so why did I put this book off for so long!

It's been a good bit since I've laughed out loud this much with a book. The writing is hilarious, but the narrator really sold it. Everything about this book felt like a fun teenage super hero movie. I especially loved Nick and just how goofy, oblivious and nerdy he is. And the fact that it was gay?? Even better!

I loved trying to predict what was happening through out this book, and I loved even more that I was correct with most guesses. But it wasn't because the book was super obvious and predictable, it was because the book was written well and laid out the perfect clues if you paid attention. I am super excited to start the next book, especially after that bonus chapter at the end.

I read this book in two days and had so much fun with it and can't wait to read the sequels. BUT it's hard for me to rate this any higher than 4 stars given the cop-pandering. Still, I do get that the MC is a cop's kid and is not always seeing things fairly, and T.J. Klune did make a statement how the sequels will address this, so I'm eager to keep reading.
