Clearly from a different time and society, but still an interesting novel.

read for my domestic tales class

this novel is so unhinged??? most of the characters are straight up evil & insane but it was widely entertaining to read. leonardo my beloved was the best character tbh his subplot was was crazy. as fun as it was to read it has tons of stuff to unpack about gender and race which is admittedly a lot less fun and entertaining

I gave this book a good, honest shot. The plot was interesting enough, but the writing style is so dry and circular! The author spends several pages describing one scene, only to describe it again later in just as much detail. I just can't do it and I can't have it on my reading list just lingering there anymore
