Very solid 4 stars.

I loveeeed seeing Alec and Magnus in their early stages of their relationship. So cute and innocent! I loved every single escene.

About the plot line, well it wasn´t new or that exciting, it was a little bit of predictive. And sometimes it was a little bit of slow pace. Even though it's a great book and fun, and with good action scenes and love and we still learn about this world.

I read this after finishing Queen of Air of Darkness (TDA #3) so many characters are dead in TDA but of course alive in The Red Scrolls, so it was nice to come to back to them and see them interact.

Love seeing Raphael, it broke my heart that he was sending messages to Ragnor, and the end of the book my my, poor boy. I know everything will work out at the ending but maybe for years he suffers. And maybe Ragnor will never see Raphael again. Damn that is sad shit.

Oh! Helen and Aline! Loveeee them, they were always one of my favorites couple in the Shadowhunter Chronicles. And seeing them met and talk and everything was so cute and funny. Helen is very different here than TDA. Here is more agressive and in TDA is more passive and cautious. Perhaps all the lost and trauma made her that way, because here Helen is the boosssss and in TDA Aline is the boooosss.

I really expect more development in Alec and Magnus character and relationship throught the whole series, I want to keep reading more.

And I'm very exciting to read more about this plot that is changing.

I finished this a bit ago but couldn't decide how to rate it. I'm reading all of these books in the author's suggested reading order. This book just doesn't read the same as the others. It was a jarring switch up for me. I love the stories, I love the characters. It just seemed like more of an info dump than an actual story? Idk. I almost feel bad not liking it. I'm not really sure I fully didn't like it. I'm still a little torn. Definitely least favorite so far.

Cute book, a nice break from TMI. But towards the end I got very bored. Not a necessary Shadowhunter read, but if you like Magnus and/or Alec, then give it a shot.

I should've liked this, but I kept being reminded that Alec was a teenager!!!! The two of them were probably the only two characters from the original series that I actually liked, but the more CC writes, the more I realize how problematic her books were. Like a fool, I keep reading them anyway. Timeline confused me a little, the "twists" were predictable except maybe that one in the epilogue
Spoiler (but honestly I don't even remember how Ragnor Fell was supposed to have died or whatever).
and having already known everyone was alive and well years later kind of takes away any thrill and excitement. Loved Aline and Helen, though. Why can't we have a series about them?

The humour in this book is flawless. Which isn’t surprising, considering Magnus is one of the main characters. I was laughing by the end of page one.

I loved the atmosphere, the writing, the characters. The plot was super entertaining, even if I think it was weak comparing to the last few books of this world. But this book is half their size, so I guess that’s fair.

Malec is probably my favourite couple in literature, so I’m really excited to continue this series and move on to book 2 very soon.
