This was light listening but I enjoyed hearing it while I worked. It didn't convince me to give up caffeine, but you might be surprised to hear that it didn't really try. It's not terribly preachy. Absorb the information and decide for yourself, as learning should be. The author read it well.

I listened to the audiobook. The author has given up coffee for 3 months to gain a new perspective on the issue. He has been successful at that. The history of coffee material were not new for me though.

Pollan takes a quick look at caffeine and how it is idolized throughout the world, particularly the USA. A short history primer leads into a self experiment for pollan who goes an extended period of time without it, and chronicles how he feels.

As a sidebar, caffeine is very addictive and is considered a drug that for all intents and purposes should be banned by the government by their own standards. I'll drink up until then.

It was entertaining, like when you scroll a little too far into YouTube and come across an interesting education video. Its definitely not the best book ever, but if you are curious and a fan of caffeine it might be a nice read.

Thought provoking book, well researched, and genuinely made me question whether I should change my caffeine consumption practices. Worth reading for anyone curious about the topic either from an historical perspective or in relation to their own use of the drug.

Really interesting and informative listen, super engaging narration and learnt a lot about the history and impact of caffeine on the world. Makes you really think about having a caffeine habit and how it impacts you.

Very educational but boring at times - also a bit depressing. Caffeine is screwing us all over but I'm still not giving it up.
