I read this for the Mythologies in Latinx Literature class I’m sitting in on this semester. The world building was excellent! I felt so immersed in the story. Alex was an interesting main character and though I had to cover my eyes a few times at the thought of her terrible decisions, she really does read as a teen. I’ll probably end up recommending this to the teens I know. It was so good.

I listened to this audiobook as part of a reading challenge, and I did not like the experience at all. Audiobooks are not for me. I am not sure how much that experience may have effected my overall opinion on the book.

Labyrinth Lost has several cool aspects. I enjoyed the main family, the cultural elements were interesting and informative, the magic system had some neat elements to it, and there was some sweet imagery and action in several scenes. I was mostly thrown by how predictable some of the plot was, and I think the rules around the magic could have been better defined. Alex is annoying at times and the characters make some stupid decisions, but it is does make sense for their age and life experience. I just do not particularly find it fun to read when they do. That being said, there is plenty of good here, and I would be up for continuing the series.

Such a beautiful story filled with diverse characters and the importance of family and embracing one’s culture. Córdovas writing style was really enjoyable and I will definitely check out her newest and future works.

feels like the start of a epic urban fantasy tale. It’s filled with a loving family, self discovery, facing one’s fears, a bisexual awakening, a perilous journey, and facing off a overwhelming powerful evil. Simply epic and a fantastic story.

This is a thrilling fantasy involving witches, an 'Alice In Wonderland' type world and family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Both the characters and world were nicely written.

If you're looking for a paranormal type YA series with POC leads, this is it. But... for me this missed. There's a rather abrupt jump into the story, while in reality some backstory is needed: the world seems to be clear to the author, but for those of us not privy to those thoughts, a little more telling (or showing - either work) would have been nice. Once we got into Los Lagos it felt like there was a Mexican gloss over a familiar landscape with little truly new or original.
