Okay, so I'm torn. I so did love the actual story part of the book. But all the parts where William Goldman comes in and talks about this and that that Morgenstern had in the "original" got confusing at times and the ending was just so unsatisfying and Buttercups Baby which I honestly couldn't tell if this was supposed to be the ending of the book or just some add on was just odd. The story part of this was wonderful but the movie captured almost all of this. I just don't know what to think about this. I liked it but I guess I liked the movie better in that it had an ending that I was satisfied with.

Compared to the movie, it honestly pales, which is unusual for adaptations. It's amazing how much of the humor and tone was already in the book. You can see little spots where the performers developed their characters and added more.
The framing device is much more fleshed out in the book in a way that's really interesting and makes me glad to have given the book a shot.
The ending though is strangely very downbeat and grounded when the rest of the story is storybook like. To be blunt, it's bummer of an ending.

Having seen the movie adaptation first, I was pleasantly surprised how much the movie kept from the book. Much of the dialogue is copied exactly and I can "hear" Cary Elwes, Robin Wright and the rest of cast as I was reading. Definitely a fun read.

Não consigo pôr por palavras o que este livro me deu, apenas posso dizer que há já muito tempo que não tinha a sorte de me deparar com um destes.
