I was neutral on this book. I found the first half of the book to be slow with the second half picking up in pace. I was curious about this book because the author is a clinical psychologist. However, the book did not weave into the mysteries of the mind as much as I hoped.
Graphic: Gore, Mental illness, Self harm, Medical content, Medical trauma, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , and Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Vomit
Minor: Abortion

Everything about this book was "Meh."
It had all the components for a good spooky read (that's where the 2 stars comes in-along with the ending) but fell short.
The characters were blah as well.
The ending was an interesting twist. But not necessarily one that wasn't done before. Or that you might not have seen coming.
You can do without this.

When Jame Richardson is offered a job at Wyldehope Hall by Dr Hugh Maitland he is thrilled but does not know what lies ahead for him is terrifying. One of James’s duties is to manage a ward full of disturbed patients who are kept asleep for months. As James settles into his new life all is not as it seems! The nurses are always on edge and noone is discussing any of the patients lives. When all the patients start dreaming at the same time what does it mean? In this reinvented ghost story James finds himself uncovering the shocking secrets within the sleep room. Do you dare to enter the sleep room for yourself?
Through looking at reviews it seems this is an average three star read, I awarded five stars as I really enjoyed this easy to read, fast paced story. I was hooked throughout and found parts very strange and scary. The Sleep Room is an outstanding read that is very creepy, entertaining and compelling and is a real page turner that will keep you reading until the end. This is the perfect story for readers who enjoy horror, thriller, mystery, suspense and paranormal genre’s. Enjoy, you will either love it or hate it… Welcome to The Sleep Room…

I really enjoyed this one. The references to psychological meds, treatments and theories is great. Storyline really had me going, then disappointment then total awe. The ending was just so unexpected!

Quite an enjoyable thriller/horror story set in a 1950's psychiatric hospital where a young doctor takes on the job of managing it including the six women undergoing sleep therapy. Reading the afterword it is a book with much factual basis underlying the plot and for a horror story there were some creepy moments which is what you want. My main criticism however was the last chapter which I felt was an unnecessary twist which also was too similar to another novel I'd read previously in a hospital setting. However saying that an easy read that I rattled through.

Awful. The ending just didn't add up for me and it took too long to get there.
