The ending was terrible.  (Spoilers) there were things the cops could have done to find out she was lying - figure out where Desi was on the day she went missing, for example.  I felt like the author didn’t want a happy ending so made it seem like Amy was untouchable, when I don’t think that’s actually the case.

I thought I’d heard enough about this book to have it be spoiled - I was wrong. A lot darker that I ever imagined, in the best way. Raw, unfiltered human thought and emotion. The “1984” of marriage. Delightfully difficult. The ending truly is the best part.
Little to no character diversity, but it’s due to the setting which is fair.

really great insights into the psychopathy of the FMC, however the book is entirely too boring in the beginning, and is saved by the excellent plot twist, and the wondrous monologues of a rageful woman.
If there is anything I have learned from this book, it is that you should always believe the victim, unless their name is Amy Elliot Dunne

The plot twists are good. The book is difficult to get through because everyone is so intensely unlikable.

*** SPOLIERS****
This was my least favorite book of Flynn’s books sadly but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it.
I thought the first half was a little too slow for me, I wanted more thrill and less plot dissection over and over but that’s also just the mood I was in.
( I think if I was in more of a slow burn thriller mood this would have been my cup of tea)
I will most likely read this again and will be interested in my rating then, since while in the middle of this book I DID get a craving to reread Sharp Objects and Dark Places because both of those gave me that quick thrilling DONT read at night feeling.
The characters were hard to like, and hard to root for in there own respective ways, I did not enjoy the ending, I wished it had ended differently, or At least had an epilogue that would appease the rage and anger I felt at Amy, and even Nick for being just as toxic as she was and perpetuating that into a family.
