My wife (the librarian) ordered this book for me based purely on the title, assuming it would be horror-related and right up my morbid alley. It turns out this is a science book targeting the 10-14 year-old crowd -- oops! Even so, I was captivated. Maybe it has just been too long since I've taken an anatomy class, but revisiting the importance of blood and our evolving understanding over time was fun. Plus, who knew the blood of the horseshoe crab was so valuable to the medical community? Want to know why? Read the book. (Or cheat and use google.)
